Brennan Poole will leave the No. 48 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, according to a report from Motorsport.com. He is in his second full-time season with the team. He is sixth in Xfinity Series standings at the end of the first round of that series’ playoffs.

Poole told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that he knew what he’d be doing next year, but he would elaborate on specifics.

“I’m really excited about closing this year out but about the opportunities I’m going to have for next year,” Poole said in his radio interview. “Really looking forward to 2018 and the future and what’s in store for me.”

According to the Motorsport.com report, sources put Poole at Richard Childress Racing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series next year as the replacement for Paul Menard, who will leave RCR’s No. 27 Cup Series team at season’s end to pilot the No. 21 Ford for Wood Brothers Racing next year.

Prior to going full-time Xfinity Series racing with CGR last year, Poole ran a partial schedule in 2015 as driver of the No. 42 Chevrolet that was, then, a part of the now-defunct HScott Motorsports but is now part of the two-car Chip Ganassi Racing team. In all, he has 79-career starts in the series, resulting in eight top-fives and 34 top-10 finishes.
