Christopher Bell will make the move to full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series competition for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2018, according to an announcement Friday from the race team.

Bell is a full-time competitor in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2017, driving the No. 4 Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports, owned by Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch. He leads the Truck Series standings on the strength of five wins, 18 races into the season. Bell has finished in the top-10 in all but two of the races, so far, this season, including 12 top-five finishes. This is his second full-time season in the Truck Series. In all, he has 48-career starts in the series, resulting in seven wins, 23 top-fives and 36 top-10 finishes.

“I can’t express how excited I am about the opportunity to drive full time for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Xfinity Series,” Bell said. “This has been a tremendous year for me, and obviously, I remain focused on finishing the Truck Series season strong and, hopefully, bringing a championship to Kyle, Samantha (Busch) and everyone at Kyle Busch Motorsports. I don’t think I could ask for a better place to take the next step in my racing career. I’m already comfortable with everyone at JGR, and I think the experience I have with them this year should help me at the start of 2018.”

Bell also has made four NASCAR Xfinity Series starts for Joe Gibbs Racing this season, posting a top-five and two top-10 finishes.

“Christopher has proven himself at every level of racing, and we are excited to have him run full time in our Xfinity Series program,  starting in 2018,” JGR owner Joe Gibbs said. “He has shown great maturity both on and off the track, and we think he is ready for this opportunity. We look forward to watching his continued progress in the sport.”

Bell also has found success in other forms of racing. He is the 2013 United States Automobile Club (USAC) National Midget Champion. The following year, he won 26 dirt feature races. He also has multiple Super Late Model wins.
