NASCAR Xfinity: Clint Bowyer drives for JR Motorsports at Chicagoland Speedway

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Clint Bowyer is expected to make his first NASCAR Xfinity Series appearance since 2012 on Sept. 17 when he’ll climb behind the wheel of the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.
“When Dale Jr. offers to let you drive his car, there’s only one answer and that’s ‘yes,’” Bowyer said.
JR Motorsports’ No. 88 entry is unofficially referred to as the team’s “all-star” car. Other NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver to drive the No. 88 in Sprint Cup competition, already, this year include car co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr., Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick and Regan Smith. Josh Berry, Alex Bowman and Kenny Habul also have taken turns in the No. 88 in 2016.
The No. 88 team is fourth in the Xfinity Series owner points standings, 21 races into the 33-race season. The No. 88 trails the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team, the points leader, by 62 points.
Bowyer has made 180-career starts in the Xfinity Sreies, resulting in eight wins, 67 top-fives and 115 top-10 finishes. He last raced fulll-time in the series in 2008, claiming the series’ driver championship.
