Daniel Hemric will compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series full-time in 2017, driving a Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, according to an announcement from RCR on Saturday.
“This is such a great opportunity for me,” Hemric said. “There aren’t words that can describe what racing for RCR means to me, especially considering everything they have done as an organization for our sport. I’m excited to now officially be a small part of the company and am looking forward to working with everyone in Welcome, N.C. We will hit the ground running in February at Daytona. With all the talent and experience RCR has in the Xfinity Series, I am confident we can compete for wins and contend for championships.”
Hemric, in his second year of full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition for Brad Keselowski Racing, officially claimed a berth in the first-ever chase for the Truck Series after finishing second to Kyle Busch on Friday in the American Ethanol E15 225 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.
“We are very happy for Daniel, and I’m really proud of what he’s accomplished with Brad Keselowski Racing in 2016,” BKR owner Keselowski said. “One of the things we wanted to do at BKR is give talented young drivers an opportunity to take the next step in their career. He has proven to me that he’s capable of being an elite-level guy at the top of this sport. We hope to finish off this season with our first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship.”
Hemric has eight top-fives and 13 top-10 finishes, so far, 16 races into the 2016 Truck Series season. In all, he has 42-career starts in the series, including two starts in 2013 and a single start in 2014. In that time, he has posted 12-career top-fives and 26 top-10 finishes.
Prior to hitting the NASCAR national-level stage, Hemric won championships across several legend car and late model series.
“Daniel has proven his talent with his numerous wins and championships throughout the years,” RCR Chairman and CEO Richard childress said. “He has had an impressive start to his NASCAR career in the Camping World Truck Series, and we’re thrilled to add his incredible talent to our lineup for 2017. I loook forward to waatching him contend for championships under the RCR banner.”
