Jeb Burton plans to make his 14th start of the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series season on Friday by driving the No. 98 Biagi-DenBeste Racing Ford in the Drive for the Cure 300 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway. It’ll be his third start of the year behind the wheel of the No. 98.
Burton raced the No. 98 earlier this season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and, most recently, at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway earlier this month. He posted top-20 finishes in both races, finishing 12th at Indy and 19th at Richmond.
Burton began the 2016 season with a full-time Xfinity Series ride as driver of the No. 43 Ford for Richard Petty Motorsports, but RPM shuttered its Xfinity Series program after the first 11 races of the season. His final race with RPM came at Charlotte, where he finished 11th.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. Burton said. “We drove really well there in the spring race and have found success on intermediate tracks this season. At Charlotte, you can move around the race track in multiple grooves, running all three lines and being able to gain track position. Our goal this weekend is to maintain good track position and get another Top-10 finish. I’m really grateful to The Z Real Estate Group, KW Burlington, and Biagi-DenBeste Racing for the opportunity to drive the No. 98, and I’m ready to be back racing and bring home a top finish for the whole organization.”
In all, Burton had 15-career starts, so far, in Xfinity Series competition, running one race each in 2013 and 2014 before embarking on what he expected to be his first full-time season in the series at the start of this year. His start at Charlotte in 2014 also came from behind the wheel of the No. 98. He has two-career top-10 finishes, most recently posting a 10th-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway early this season while still driving for Richard Petty Motorsports.
