Austin Theriault and Alli Owens will be behind the wheel of Obaika Racing entries for Friday night’s Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. Theriault will drive the No. 77, and Owens will drive the No. 97.
For Owens, the Richmond race will be her Xfinity Series debut. She is coming off a five-year break from racing.
“Becoming a mother, I had to take time away from driving race cars,” Owens said, according to an article from OnPitRoad.com. “But now that I have my girls, my sights have never been clearer on getting back behind the wheel.”
Owens has 32 races of ARCA Racing Series experience, including three top-10 finishes at that level.
Theriault has three-career Xfinity Series starts, all coming in 2014 from behind the wheel of a JR Motorsports entry. His best finish was a 15th-place showing at Iowa Speedway in Newton.
Theriault has taken on NASCAR national-level competition this year, though, making a single Camping World Truck Series start at Daytona. He drove a Brad Keselowski Racing entry to a 27th-place finish in the season-opening race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
