NASCAR Xfinity, Truck teams penalized, warned after Atlanta

After the NASCAR tripleheader weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway that included a Friday night Camping World Truck Series race and Saturday’s Xfinity Series race, NASCAR announced on Wednesday it was penalizing the No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Xfinity Series team because the No. 2 Chevrolet failed post-race inspection. Paul Menard drove the No. 2 to a fourth-place finish at AMS.

Crew chief Danny Stockman was fined $5,000. In its penalty announcement, NASCAR cited violations of sections 12.1, 12.5.3.3.1 g and 20.17.3.1.2 of its 2016 rule book. The infraction was deemed to be a P2 level infraction on NASCAR’s severity scale.
