Parker Kligerman subs for John Wes Townley in Kentucky truck race

John Wes Townley will sit out Thursday night’s Buckle Up in Your Truck 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, according to an e-mailed announcement from Townley’s spokesperson. Parker Kligerman will drive the No. 05 Chevrolet in Townley’s place in the Kentucky Race.
According to the announcement, Townley is undergoing treatment for a possible concussion. As a result, he’ll also sit out the ARCA 150 ARCA Racing Series event at Iowa Speedway in Newton. Camping World Truck Series regular Cole Custer will fill in for Townley in that race.
Townley plans to return to Truck Series competition for the next race on the schedule — the July 20 race on the dirt track of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
Townley was involved in a couple of on-track incidents with Spencer Gallagher during the truck race at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill., near St. Louis on June 25. The on-track contact led to a scuffle between the two drivers during a caution. The Truck Series hasn’t raced since, but Townley’s entry was withdrawn from the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway last weekend.
