Penalties handed down after post-race altercation at Kentucky

A confrontation that began between drivers Brian Scott and Darrell Wallace Jr. following Saturday’s VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta led NASCAR to issuing penalties on Wednesday.

Wallace and Whitney Scott, the wife of Brian Scott, were both placed on NASCAR probation through the end of the year. Brian Allen, Scott’s motorcoach driver, was indefinitely suspended from NASCAR.

In its penalty announcement, NASCAR cited sections 12.1 and 7.5 of the 2015 rule book. Section 12.1 is a catch-all NASCAR cites in all of its penalty announcements and is worded, “Actions detrimental to stock car racing.”
