Premium Motorsports has had two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series seats available recently with the departure of Brendan Gaughan from the No. 62 team just prior to the July 11 Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta and Josh Wise’s departure from the No. 98 team earlier this week. Reed Sorenson and Timmy Hill will drive for the still relatively new race team in Sunday’s New Hampshire 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon.
Sorenson was with the team last week at Kentucky, driving the No. 62 to a 36th-place finish as the replacement for Gaughan. Timmy Hill expects to make his first Sprint Cup start of 2015 Sunday, driving the No. 98 vacated by Wise.
Hill has been racing part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Premium Motorsports this season. He’s driven the organization’s No. 94 truck in five of the 10 races, so far, on the Truck Series schedule.
Neither Gaughan nor Wise is on the entry list for Sunday’s race in Loudon. Gaughan is a championship-eligible driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, so he will continue his driving duties in the No. 62 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in that series. The Xfinity Series races at NHMS on Saturday. Wise is not slated to compete in a NASCAR event this weekend.
