Ryan Blaney dominated the US Cellular 250 Presented by New Holland NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Iowa Speedway in Newton on Saturday night, leading all but three laps of the race that was scheduled for 250 laps but was extended to 260 laps by two green-white-checker attempts.
Regan Smith finished second, Brian Scott was third, Ty Dillon fourth and Brendan Gaughan rounded out the top-five.
“We were just a little bit off on a couple of those runs, there,” Smith said. “There’s not one driver in the field that wants to win any worse than I do.”
JR Motorsports teammates Smith and Chase Elliott were the only two drivers other than Blaney to lead multiple laps, with Smith leading four laps an Elliott three. Their laps led all came as a result of beating Blaney off pit road under caution. But each time, as soon as the race would return to green, Blaney would retake the lead. Ryan Sieg was the only other driver to lead, running up front for one lap.
