Sadler’s arrival at JR Motorsports ushers arrival of new crew chief

Elliott Sadler’s move to JR Motorsports to drive full-time for the organization in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition in 2016 marks the move to crew chief for Kevin Meendering. He’ll, essentially, be replacing Ernie Cope, crew chief of JRM’s No. 9 Chevrolet entry for 2014 Xfinity (then-Nationwide) Series champion Chase Elliott during the 2015 season. Elliott moves to Hendrick Motorsports for his first year of full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup competition in 2016.

Meendering was most recently an engineer on the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Sprint Cup Series team of driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., who just happens to be co-owner of JR Motorsports. Motorsport.com first reported the move of Meendering to JRM, citing sources close to his hiring. The race team later confirmed the hiring.
