When the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February for the start of its 2016 season with the running of its season opener at the track on Feb. 19, at least one new team is expected to be on the landscape. AM Racing plans to field a No. 22 Toyota for full-time Truck Series competition in the upcoming season, according to a press release from the team. In a separate announcement, the team announced that Austin Wayne Self would drive the truck.
“This is an extemely interesting and exciting project for us and all of our partners,” AM Racing owner Tim Self said. “We will be working hard to establish AM Racing as a leader in the NASCAR Truck Series and add an energizing dynamic to the brands of our partners. I have a vision of how I want to build this race program, and all of the pieces are coming together pretty quick. We will be well prepared for the season when we show up in Daytona. We are committed to one full-time truck, already, and expect to announce a second one in the near future.”
