Six Xfinity crew chiefs on probation after Iowa
Several NASCAR Xfinity Series teams have penalized as a result of illegal body modifications prior to Sunday’s American Ethanol E15 250 at Iowa Speedway in Newton, according to the weekly penalty report from NASCAR that was released on Wednesday. Six teams had crew chiefs placed on probation through the end of the year because of violations of section 12-1, 20.4 b, 20.4.2 a of the 2016 rule book. Crew chiefs on all three JR Motorsports teams were among those placed on probation, accounting for half of those penalized. Crew chiefs placed on probation include Kevin Meendering of the No. 1 JR Motorsports Chevrolet team of Elliott Sadler, Chris Gabehart on the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team of Erik Jones, Brian Wilson on the No. 22 Team Penske Ford team of Brad Keselowski, Jason Burdett of the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet team of Justin Allgaier, Chris Gayle on the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team of race winner Sam Hornish Jr., and David Elenz of the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet team of Alex Bowman.
