Spencer Boyd plans Xfinity debut at Iowa

Spencer Boyd plans to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut on Saturday, driving the No. 25 Chevrolet for Rick Ware Racing at Iowa Speedway in Newton.
“It’s been a long time in the making since I met Rick Ware at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2012 and a friendship was struck,” Boyd Said. “It has been my quest to drive for him one day and to get this opportunity to make my Xfinity debut with such a great team and family.”
The Iowa race will be Boyd’s third NASCAR national level start in 2016, as he previously ran two races in the Camping World Truck Series. He drove a truck for MB Motorsports at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and for Premium Motorsports at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill., near St. Louis.
“Gateway was such a great experience, not only for me, but for my sponsors and family, too,” Boyd said. “It was a total team effort. i learned a lot at Gateway. Hopefully, I’m able to take some of what I learned there and apply it to Iowa Saturday night.”
Boyd has several championships under his belt, including 12 World Karting Association championships and two Legends Car titles at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway. He also has multiple wins in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
