NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team, GMS Racing, plans to venture into NASCAR Xfinity Series racing in 2016 by fielding a No. 21 Chevrolet for a limited Xfinity schedule, according to a recent announcement from the race team. Spencer Gallagher, one of the Truck Series drivers for the team, will drive the car. His first Xfinity Series race from behind the wheel of the GMS No. 21 will be March 12 at Phoenix International Raceway.
“This is big for GMS Racing,” GMS Racing Director of Competition Mike Beam said. “We’ve worked hard to make sure we have the right resources in place to take the next step, and we feel like now is the right time. This will be a great opportunity for us to put our equipment to the test, make improvements and get Spencer some additional experience.”
