By AMANDA VINCENT According to a report on NBC Sports, two separate new items that appeared on the Stewart-Haas Racing website Tuesday morning but then removed had Ty Dillon behind the wheel of the No. 14 Chevrolet for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, Phoenix International Raceway on March 13 and Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., on March 20, and Brian Vickers would be in the car for the March 6 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The same NBC report claimed that a source with knowledge of the arrangement but didn’t have the authority to comment confirmed that Vickers would be in the car at Las Vegas. Tuesday afternoon, Stewart-Haas confirmed via Twitter (@StewartHaasRcng) that Dillon would be in the car at Atlanta and Vickers at Las Vegas. The tweet did not mention the Phoenix and Auto Club races. “CONFIRMED: @tydillon in No. 14 @amsupdates & @BrianLVickers in No. 14 @LVMotorSpeedway. Future races remain TBD,” the tweet read. Vickers drove the car during SpeedWeeks at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, including the Sprint Unlimited exhibition race on Feb. 13 and the official 2016 season-opener, the Daytona 500, on Feb. 21. In the Daytona 500, Vickers was caught up in a wreck and credited with a 26th-place finish. Dillon has a sponsorship relationship with Bass Pro Shops through his full-time gig, driver of the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The No. 14 car has BPS as one of a handful of primary sponsors. Dillon’s races in the No. 14 are tied to the Bass Pro Shops sponsorship. Bass Pro Shop was the primary sponsor on the No. 14 for the Daytona 500, but Dillon already had a deal to drive a car for Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing in the race. Tony Stewart, co-owner of SHR and regular driver of the No. 14, is sidelined by a back injury sustained in an all-terrain vehicle accident in January. He’ll be sidelined for an undetermined period of time, but he does plan to be back in the car in 2016, his final season as a Sprint Cup Series driver.
