Team Penske dominated the Zippo 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International on Saturday, with Joey Logano taking the win in a rarely-fielded No. 12 entry and Brad Keselowski finishing second in Penske’s regular Xfinity Series entry, the No. 22.
“It just goes to show how Team Penske is and the depth they’ve got from within when they can throw together a second Xfinity car like that and make two cars as equal as those two cars were out there today, and the two fastest cars is something to be very proud of.”
The teammates combined to lead all but three laps of the 82-lap race, with Keselowski leading a race-high 40 laps and Logano running up front for 39 en route to his first NASCAR national level road course win.
“It’s pretty special,” Logano said. “As a driver, you always want to have a road course win on your resume. I’ve yet to have one on the Cup side, but it’s nice to have one on the Xfinity side now. We’ve come close to winning this race a few times, but had never been able to make it happen.”
