Teams warned, penalized after Michigan

By AMANDA VINCENT

The No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet team of driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., the No. 27 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet team of driver Paul Menard and the No. 32 Go Green Racing Ford team of driver Josh Wise will be docked 15 minutes of practice time at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway this weekend as teams prepare for Saturday night’s Irwin Tools Night Race at the track.

The No. 88 team was penalized because it failed pre-race inspection three times last weekend at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on Aug. 16. The No. 27 and No. 32 teams were penalized because they were late to last Friday’s qualifying session at MIS.

Meanwhile, the No. 2 Team Penske Ford team of driver Brad Keselowski and the No. 47 JTG-Daugherty Chevrolet team of driver A.J. Allmendinger received written warnings for failing inspection twice at Michigan.

On a related not, neither the No. 2 team nor the No. 22 Team Penske Ford team of driver Joey Logano will be penalized even though NASCAR confiscated the splitters on both cars on race day at MIS. Although the splitters were originally thought to be at least close to non-compliant, further investigation found no issues with the splitters.
