NASCAR Xfinity: Trevor Bayne pulls double duty at Watkins Glen

Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, plans double duty during the Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International NASCAR race weekend, competing in both the NASCAR Xfinity and Sprint Cup series races.

In addition to his regular driving duties behind the wheel of the No. 6 in the Cheez-It 355 Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Bayne plans to drive the No. 60 Ford for Roush Fenway in Saturday’s Zippo 200 Xfinity Series race. It’ll be Bayne’s first Xfinity race since 2014.

In the Xfinity Series race, Bayne will be a teammate to Roush Fenway Xfinity regulars Darrell Wallace Jr. and Ryan Reed

“Getting to race in the Xfinity race will be a huge help for Sunday,” Bayne said. “With the track being freshly repaved, it will be very fast and unpredictable. This extra track time will allow me to get as many laps as possible to help us get comfortable and try to gain the most points possible toward the Chase, come Sunday.”

Sunday’s Sprint cup race will only be Bayne’s second start in the series at the Watkins Glen road course. He has four previous Xfinity starts at the track, resulting in two top-10 finishes.

The Zippo 200 is scheduled to take the green flag shortly after 2 p.m. ET Saturday and will be shown live on CNBC. The Cheez-It 355 is scheduled to get underway shortly after 2:30 p.m. ET Sunday and may be seen live on USA.
