Two JGR teams docked practice time at Darlington Raceway

By AMANDA VINCENT

NASCAR announced Wednesday evening that the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing team of Kyle Busch and the No. 20 JGR team of Matt Kenseth will be docked 15 minutes of practice time as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams prepare for the Sept. 6 running of the Southern 500 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway. The penalties come as a result of issues at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway. The No. 18 team failed pre-race inspection four times. The No. 20 team failed pre-race inspection twice after being late to inspection.

The No. 18 and No. 20 teams were among 11 Sprint Cup teams receiving written warnings because of issues leading up to the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol on Saturday. They were the only two docked practice time, though.

The No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports team of Jeff Gordon, the No. 22 Team Penske team of Joey Logano, the No. 7 Tommy Baldwin Racing team of Alex Bowman, The No. 30 TMG team of Travis Kvapil and the No. 98 Premium Motorsports team of Timmy Hill were warned after failing qualifying inspection twice.

The No. 40 Hillman Smith Motorsports team of Landon Cassill, the No. 83 BK Racing team of Matt DiBenedetto, the No. 15 Michael Waltrip Racing team of Clint Bowyer and the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing team of Denny Hamlin received warnings for being late to inspection.
