Two teams receive written warnings at Sonoma

By AMANDA VINCENT
NASCAR issued written warnings to the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team of Matt Kenseth and the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet team of Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the Sprint Cup Series because of inspection issues last weekend at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway, according to the weekly penalty report issued by NASCAR on Wednesday.
The No. 20 team twice failed pre-qualifying laser inspection on Saturday. The No. 88 team received a written warning for twice failing pre-qualifying template inspection.
The warning was the fourth for the No. 20 team, resulting in a loss of pit selection for Kenseth and his team. With the warning coming prior to qualifying and pit selection at Sonoma, Kenseth and company served their pit-selection-loss penalty there.
