Nick Harrison, crew chief for driver Ty Dillon on the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet NASCAR Xfinity Series team, has been suspended from NASCAR competition through April 27, sidelining him from Saturday’s race at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, according to a penalty report from NASCAR on Wednesday. Harrison also was fined $10,000 and placed on probation through Dec. 31.
The No. 3 team did not have the proper spoiler assembly and extension on its car when the car was presented for opening-day inspection at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway on April 15. The penalty was assigned a P3 level of severity on NASCAR’s penalty scale.
