Where they stand: Xfinity Series points after Richmond

With NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. winning the ToyotaCare 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway on April 23, Xfinity Series championship-eligible drivers still, as a group, have only one win to their credit, coming the weekend earlier with Erik Jones’ victory at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway. As a result, Jones remains the only driver with his card for one of the 12 available Chase spots punched. That means the other 11 provisional Chase positions are held by drivers based on their points standings. Here’s a look at the points standings, eight races into the 33-race season. Daniel Suarez leads the way, points-wise, with 279 points, nine points ahead of Elliott Sadler.

The standings are close near the provisional Chase bubble. 11th-place Jeb Burton is only one point ahead of 12th-place Ryan Sieg, with Sieg in the final provisional Chase slot. Right now, Blake Koch is the first driver on the outside looking in, 11 points behind Sieg.
