Where they stand: Xfinity Series points after Texas

Series championship-eligible drivers remain winless six races into the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, heading into Saturday’s race at Bristol (Ten.) Motor Speedway, thanks, in large part, to series domination by Sprint Cup Series 2015 champion Kyle Busch, along with a win apiece for two other Sprint Cup drivers, Austin Dillon and Chase Elliott. As a result, at least so far, provisional Chase berths are held by virtue of the points standings, with Daniel Suarez continuing to lead the way, but only by the slimmest of margins. Suarez is ahead of NASCAR veteran Elliott Sadler by a single point after the April 9 race at Texas Motor Speedway and heading into tomorrow’s race at Bristol.

Suarez has 207 points to Sadler’s 206 after six races on the 33-race schedule. They’re the only two drivers over the 200-point threshold. Sadler’s JR Motorsports teammate, Justin Allgaier, though, is just outside the 200+ point category with 198. Other drivers rounding out the top-five in the championship points standings include Brandon Jones and and Suarez’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Erik Jones.
