By AMANDA VINCENT

Will Kimmel, a veteran driver of the ARCA Racing Series, will attempt to qualify to make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at Kentucky Speedway. Qualifying for the Quaker State 400 is scheduled 5:45 p.m. ET Friday, with the race scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Kimmel plans to drive the No. 32 Go Green Racing Ford.

“I’m excited, but also nervous to be able to race at this elite level,” Kimmel said. “It’s a special opportunity and I just want to do my best and finish all the laps.”

Kimmel’s Kentucky Speedway experience includes two ARCA races that resulted in an average finish of 6.5. He also has two NASCAR starts at Kentucky, one in the Camping World Truck Series and the other in the Xfinity Series. He finished 35th in an Xfiity (then-Nationwide) Series race there in 2011 and finished 21st in a truck race there in 2010.

In all Kimmel has seven races of NASCAR national-level experience, with six starts in the Xfinity Series and one in the Truck Series.
