Jimmie Johnson still has Kansas Speedway (Sept. 29), Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Oct. 20) and Phoex Raceway (Nov. 10) on his schedule of NASCAR Cup Series races for 2024. Even so Legacy Motor Club released members of Johnson’s part-time No. 84, including crew chief Jason Burdett.

Burdett has since joined NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team TRICON Garage as crew chief of the No. 15 Toyota driven by Tanner Gray.

Sunday’s LiUNA! 175 at the Milwaukee (Wis.) Mile was Burdett’s first Truck Series race as Gray’s crew chief. The pairing resulted in an 11th-place finish in its debut.

Burdett won 18 NASCAR Xfinity Series races before joining Legacy ahead of the 2024 season.

In six Cup races this season, Burdett guided Johnson to best finishes of 28th in the Daytona 500 and at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway.
